How is Jensen's alpha calculated, and what does it actually tell you about manager skill?
I know Jensen's alpha is the intercept from a CAPM regression, but I'm not sure how to interpret it in practice. Does a positive alpha necessarily mean the manager is skilled, and how do you test whether alpha is statistically significant?
