eaPart 1SchedulingExam Day

When should I schedule each EA exam part?

Should I schedule the exam at the start of my study to lock in a date, or wait until I am ready?

Schedule it once you can pass a timed mock at 75 percent or higher with two weeks of buffer remaining. Not before.

Reasons not to schedule too early:

  • The cost is roughly 200 dollars per part. Failing because you scheduled too early is an expensive lesson.
  • Pressure from a scheduled date does not produce faster learning in the early phases. It often causes shortcutting of weak topics.

Reasons not to wait too long:

  • The two-year window from passing the first part is firm. Drift adds up.
  • A scheduled date helps in the last three weeks because it focuses mock practice.

Process I recommend:

  1. Study until you finish the syllabus once with EOC question practice.
  2. Take one timed mock. If you score below 70 percent, do another two weeks of weak-topic review.
  3. Take a second timed mock. If you score 75 percent or higher, schedule the exam for two to three weeks out.
  4. Spend the gap on additional mocks and weak-topic drills.

The EA exam runs year-round except for a closed period in March and April for content updates. Outside that window, Prometric centers typically have availability within two to three weeks for popular metro areas.
